One man is dead and another is in hospital after a freak accident involving a bobcat on a rural property south of Brisbane this morning.
Emergency services were called to an address at South Maclean, near Logan, at 9.30am after the machinery became submerged in a dam, trapping its driver.
It’s believed a 65-year-old man was operating the bobcat at his neighbour’s property when the accident occurred.
Somehow, the bobcat went into the water and sank below the surface, trapping the driver.
A man in his 50s, understood to be the owner of the property, rushed to rescue the man but was unsuccessful.
He suffered minor injuries in the process and was taken to Logan Hospital for treatment.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the driver of the bobcat died at the scene. A report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
