Five people have been arrested during investigations into the suspicious deaths of three men.

On Thursday morning, Task Force Southern detectives charged four men and a woman with drug and weapons offences as part of an ongoing probe into the deaths of South Australian men Robert Atkins, Trevor King and Jeffrey Mundy.

In February, SA Police began a search of the Myponga Reservoir in Adelaide’s far south for the body of Mr Mundy, who was last seen alive in December 2020.

According to police, at the time of his disappearance, Mr Mundy was being actively sought by members of the southern suburbs drug community.

Last year, police revealed Mr Mundy had been held captive in a container frequented by drug dealers in Lonsdale before allegedly being murdered – one of three deaths being investigated by Task Force Southern.

The Task Force was formed in 2021 to investigate a string of violent crimes, including the death of Mr Mundy, along with two other alleged murder victims – Mr King and Mr Atkins.

The body of Mr King, who police allege was held, tortured and subjected to extreme violence, was found in 2020. Four people have been arrested in relation to the matter.

Police on Thursday arrested a 39-year-old Christies Beach woman and charged her with seven counts of trafficking in a controlled drug.

A 51-year-old Huntfield Heights man was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled drug and trafficking in a firearm.

A 48-year-old Hove man was also charged with trafficking a controlled drug, trafficking a firearm and possessing a prohibited weapon.

All three people are expected to face court later in the week.

A 59-year-old Christies Beach man was charged with five counts of trafficking in a controlled drug, and a 43-year-old Lonsdale man was charged with 14 counts of trafficking in a controlled drug.

Both men will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court in April.

Investigations under Task Force Southern and into the deaths of the three men are ongoing, with Thursday’s arrests occurring as a consequence of the investigation.

It is not suggested the latest arrests have any direct involvement in the three murders.

Anyone with information relating to the murders of Robert, Trevor or Jeffrey, or the location of the bodies of Robert or Jeffrey is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with whom you can remain anonymous.
