Eminem has one of the most longstanding, most successful careers in the rap industry, and his new song and new album (available today) make it clear he’s not interested in going anywhere anytime soon. The rapper has been so successful in almost everything he’s touched, from his earlier songs about hating his ex and bashing her repeatedly to his more recent songs about being an underdog who is out to achieve great things, he’s just making hit after hit and not looking back.
We’re happy to see that Eminem’s music has taken a bit of a turn for the better as he’s grown up, especially considering the fact that he’s a father and he does have a daughter to set an example for. His music has gone from hate-filled messages about his ex to overcoming any obstacle in his way to get to the kind of success he deserves, and the same is true of his new hit song, “Guts Over Fear,” in which he raps about a guy who is down and out and looking for a way to improve his life.
The video follows a guy who just can’t get his stuff together as he goes into a gym and finds success in the ring. He’s in a place that’s just not good for him, and he’s got to find a way out of that life and into a life that’s going to benefit his family so that they can get their stuff together and have a nice life. Fortunately, he becomes a champ and does just that. It’s just like a lot of the music that the rapper’s been releasing since his 8 Mile days when he released, “Lose Yourself,” which was clearly a song about his own journey through hell and back. His new album is available now for download.
