Following his cameo as a singing soldier in the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere, Ed Sheeran is heading to Springfield next.

The British pop star is going to be singing and playing a part in animated Fox comedy The Simpsons for a musical themed episode, titled ‘Haw-Haw Land’.

In the upcoming 29th season, Sheeran will be playing a musician called Brendan and Lisa Simpson instantly falls in love with him.

“He keeps alternating [between], ‘You’re not that great, but you could be fantastic,’ and she keeps falling for him because of his talent,” executive producer Al Jean told EW.

Another character, Nelson, will also be competing to win Lisa’s heart with his singing talent which already sounds hilarious.

Ed Sheeran will be using his incredible pipes to serenade Lisa which leads to long-time-loving-Lisa Milhouse feeling jealous of his talent.

“When Lisa meets Brendan, Milhouse comes in and he goes, ‘I’ve brought three kinds of waters – cold, warm, and lukewarm,’”

“Lisa goes, ‘I’m not thirsty anymore,’ and Milhouse goes, ‘Dammit!’ That’s the effect he has on somebody else… The girls love him but he’s difficult,” Jean teased.

Sheeran has been a lover of The Simpsons and even has a tattoo of Blinky the three-eyed fish which caught the attention of producer Mike Scully.

Sheeran had always wanted to appear on the long-running comedy show and is now getting his wish fulfilled.

“We had a perfect part for him.”

“So we said, ‘Oh geat, we’ll have him do this!’ And we recorded him over the phone from England.” Jean explained.

Sheeran will be joining a huge list of celebrities who have appeared on The Simpsons, including friend Taylor Swift, Ricky Gervais, The Stones and more.

He has already got a few sporadic TV cameos like the NBC comedy Undateable and had a recurring role in The Bastard Executioner.

The Simpsons 29th season is kicking off on October 1st and Sheeran’s episode is scheduled to air in late autumn.
